TONY COMPTON
Tony Compton grew up in Marlow, Buckinghamshire and was educated at the local Grammar School. He went on to study architecture in London and qualified in 1973. His early years in practice in London and then Reading gained him sound experience on both housing and office developments in large commercial practices. A career change in the early 1980's provided him with some unique experience working on university and housing projects in Nigeria. From the mid 1980's, he has practised at partner level and has continued to widen his experience in working on a broad range of building types, as well as managing a medium size architectural practice. He joined forces with Andrew Lacey in 1989 to create Compton Lacey. Alongside his work he has been involved in many sports since a schoolboy and now spends a lot of his spare time coaching rowing to youngsters.
ANDREW LACEY
Andrew Lacey grew up in Fleet, Hampshire. After leaving school he qualified as an architectural technician and subsequently in 1977 as an architect. Qualifications were achieved whilst working and early years were spent in several private practices working on a variety of buildings and schemes including a short spell in the Middle East. Public sector experience was gained at the Greater London Council. From the mid 1980s he practiced at partner level jointly managing a medium sized practice and in 1989 joined forces with Tony Compton to form Compton Lacey. Alongside his work and family commitments he has involved himself in school fund raising activities and career advice for young people, representing his profession at county council career conventions and school career evenings. Andrew retired from the practice in 2007 but remains as a consultant for the practice.
